Apple Dog Blues

Apple dog blues are in my head
In my shoes and in my bed.
Life is short no time to lose
You might as well like it do the apple dog blues.

Goin' down fightin' man to man
Feel's just like Custer's last stand.
Goin' down fightin' hand to hand
Goin' down fightin' in a hard rock band.

Life is wet but death is dry
Cities of the dead are pilin' high
Sin is wet but honor dry
Run it up the pole and watch it fly.

When I was young I heard a sound
Put my ear right down to Mother Ground.
As I got older I lost the sound
Never ever more could it be found.

Mom was right and Pop was too
My oh my how the years have flew.
Got my kicks with Peggy Sue
When the world was fresh and new new new.

Apple dog blues are in my head
In my shoes and in my bed.
Life is short no time to lose
You might as well like it do the apple dog blues.

So soon to die a natural death
Feel it with each precious breath.
So soon to die a natural death
Feel it from my very first breath.

Packin' my boots they're all I'll need
Dreamin' my dreams my thoughts are freed
Leavin' in the mornin', won't be late
Got a real hot date with Father Fate.

Got a meetin' on the mountain with Sister Moon
Gotta feelin' that I'll find her really soon.
Gotta feelin' this is what our lives are for
Gotta feelin' that my cup is brimmin' o'er.

Oh Apple dog blues are in my head
In my shoes and in my bed.
Life is short no time to lose
You might as well like it do the apple dog blues.
