America

I dreamed the future was America,
At heart a hybrid and a chimera,
A place where culture was reborn anew,
Spliced in amongst the Iroquois and Sioux.

The old restraints and tyrants were no more,
And yet we re-created on this shore,
Heirarchy mad, yet grander fools, a spell
To let us know our betters, pray to tell.

Old money mixed with newly won rewards,
By crossing of their ever finer swords,
And raping of the lovely new landscape,
From Plymouth Rock and Boston's sacred Cape,

To Golden Gate and L. A.'s Hollywood,
It is the new mob's home and livelihood.
